Walkway Material Options

Interlocking Paver Walkways

The most popular choice for residential walkways, interlocking pavers offer durability, design flexibility, and a clean, finished appearance. Available in a wide range of colors, textures, and patterns, paver walkways can be designed to match or complement your existing patio, driveway, or home exterior.

  • Multiple pattern options including herringbone, running bond, and basket weave

  • Durable in freeze-thaw conditions—flexes without cracking

  • Easy to repair if individual pavers need replacement

  • Border and accent options for custom design details

Flagstone Pathways

Natural flagstone creates an organic, elegant pathway that blends beautifully with landscape plantings. Irregular shapes and natural color variations give each flagstone walkway a one-of-a-kind character. Available in bluestone, limestone, slate, and other natural stones.

  • Dry-laid (on gravel base) or wet-laid (mortared on concrete) installation options

  • Natural, non-uniform appearance for a classic garden aesthetic

  • Excellent for curved and meandering pathway designs

  • Various stone types to match your home's color palette

Stepping Stones

A more casual option, stepping stones provide a defined path through garden areas, across lawns, or between landscape features. Individual stones are set at stride intervals, creating a natural-looking pathway with minimal disruption to surrounding plantings or turf.

  • Natural stone, precast concrete, or porcelain options

  • Set in turf, groundcover, or gravel for different aesthetics

  • Ideal for secondary paths and garden access

  • Lower cost entry point for pathway projects

Benefits of Professional Walkway Installation

  • Safety - Eliminate tripping hazards from uneven ground, exposed roots, or deteriorating concrete

  • Accessibility - Provide stable, level walking surfaces for all ages and mobility levels

  • Curb Appeal - A quality front walkway is one of the highest-impact improvements for home appearance

  • Property Value - Professional hardscape adds measurable value to your home

  • Mud & Erosion Prevention - Keep shoes clean and prevent worn paths through your lawn

  • Year-Round Use - Properly graded walkways shed water and snow, staying usable in all seasons

Walkway Width Guidelines

  • Front Entry Walkway: 4-5 feet minimum (allows two people to walk side-by-side)

  • Secondary Pathways: 3-4 feet (comfortable single-file with room for landscape lighting)

  • Garden Paths: 2-3 feet (functional access through planting beds)

  • Stepping Stone Paths: 18-24 inch stones at stride intervals

Wider is almost always better for primary walkways. We recommend 5 feet or wider for front entries to create a generous, welcoming approach to your home.
